Mass Deportation and the Authoritarian Turn in American Governance
Evergreen professor, Steve Niva, examines how ICE and immigration enforcement actions across the country increasingly operate outside traditional legal and constitutional constraints that not only threaten the rights of millions of immigrants but also threaten basic constitutional rights of citizens, and illustrate a broader authoritarian transformation in American governance, where the executive branch wields power with diminished accountability, undermining democratic norms and institutions.
