SPEAKER SERIES

The Olympia World Affairs Council's program year runs September through May, usually on the third Thursday of the month. Speakers include professors, economists, diplomats, historians, scientists, non-profit organization leaders, business executives, and public officials. 

In addition to our regular schedule, we occasionally offer special programs, social gatherings with discussions of timely topics, and one-time summer programs.

Join OWAC board member and former Washington State Senator, Karen Fraser, as she recounts her experiences traveling in Mongolia in 2023. She will share her knowledge of Mongolian history, economy, and international relationships, as well as a wide range of Mongolian cultural traditions.

Join Professor Seth Weinberger of University of Puget Sound as he discusses the conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, their futures, and what they tell us about the future of conflict around the world. What effect do drones, long-range missiles, artificial intelligence, and social media play in current and future wars?

Second international trivia night fundraiser for the OWAC Study Abroad Scholarship, assisting Evergreen, SPSCC, and St. Martin's students cover initial costs of study abroad programs. *This event will be held at River's Edge Restaurant at 6:30PM.
